Meet The Staff
Amy Welch
Director of Residence Life
Amy Welch joined the residence life staff as the director of residence life at Southwest Baptist University in 2001.
Welch has served as a resident specialist, community support worker and targeted children's case manager for Burrell Behavioral Health. She also has been employed as a child abuse investigator for the Missouri Department of Social Services and Division of Family Services in Springfield, Mo.
Welch earned a bachelor of science degree in 1999 from the University of Missouri, Columbia. She graduated with a Masters degree in Counseling from Southwest Missouri State, emphasizing in college student personnel issues.
Welch was recently named Empire Who’s Who of Women in Education in April 2005, as a biographical representative for Bolivar, MO.
Amy is also an active member of the Missouri College Personnel Association. Ms. Welch has served on the advisory council for the Bolivar Area Community Foundation of the Ozarks, the Community Partnership of the Ozarks in Springfield, MO and is a former 2003 graduate of the Leadership Bolivar class. Ms. Welch was also the recipient of the 2002 Staff Newcomer of the Year award at SBU for her hard work and dedication to students.
Chris Keller
Housing Coordinator
Chris Keller, an SBU alumnus, currently serves as the Housing Coordinator at Southwest Baptist University's Bolivar campus.
Graduating in 1990 with a bachelor of science degree at SBU, Keller later returned to Southwest Baptist where he obtained a Masters degree in Education in 2002. During his time as an SBU student, Keller was active in a number of student groups and university organizations including the SBU Pep Club where he served as President. Additionally, Keller was formerly the Managing Editor of the University's student print and online newspaper, the Omnibus, and currently serves as the paper's Staff Adviser. Keller was also a graduate assistant with SBU's Sports Information Office during the 2000-2001 school year and served briefly as acting Sports Information Director during his internship there.
Keller has also been a part of the University's residence life staff since the 2000 Fall Semester where he served as a Resident Assistant at SBU's Plaster Lodge. In the 2001 Spring Semester, he was hired as Resident Director of Meyer Hall and later moved to Landen Hall where he continues to serve in that capacity.
A member of the SBU Alumni Board of Directors, Keller has also been active in the business communications industry since 1989. In a 10-year period from 1990 to 2000, Keller worked as a news and sports director at KYOO Communications in Bolivar and later went on to serve as Station Manager at radio stations in Buffalo, Lamar, and Stockton, MO. Keller has also garnered experience with the Missouri Department of Revenue where he served as a Telephone Information Specialist, Examiner, and Clerk with the state's Taxation, Driver's License, and Motor Vehicle divisions.
Sara Nuxoll
Resident Director of Leslie Hall
Originally from Illinois, Sara moved to Bolivar to attend SBU. She graduated in 2004 with a B.S. in Sociology and a minor in Social Work. Sara became the Resident Director of Leslie Hall in 2005. Nate Melton
Resident Director of Maupin Hall
"My name is Nate Melton and I am the Resident Director at Maupin Hall (the greatest dorm on the planet). I am originally from Webb City, MO but have been here in Bolivar for going on 5 years. I lived in Maupin when I was a student and had a great experience and I look forward to providing the same opportunities for each new student. My wife (kristi) and I look forward to getting to know each of you. Come check out Maupin! "
Maupin is a three story, non-air conditioned building, with a capacity of 72 (male) residents. There are two residents per room. Maupin has large privacy baths, with showers and restrooms centrally located on each floor.
Taby Lane - Resident Director of Memorial Hall
Tabitha Lane is in her third year serving as the Resident Director of Memorial Hall. Originally from Fulton, Missouri, she graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Baptist University. In 2005 she joined the Student Life Department to lead the women of Memorial Hall. Taby looks forward to interacting with all the women in the dorm and enjoys getting to know each resident. She hopes the 2007-2008 year is the best year yet at Memorial Hall. Martha Thomas- 1St Floor Resident Assistant The Resident Assistant of first floor is Martha Thomas, a small town girl from northern Iowa. Martha is in her third year here at SBU. She is an education major and hopes to use her degree on the mission field after graduating. This is Martha’s fourth semester serving as a RA in Memorial Hall and she loves being a part of the community here. In her free time, Martha enjoys athletics, music, reading, being outdoors, and spending time with friends. Martha is anxious to get to know the new residents and excited for the memories that will be made.
Erin Waters - Apartments Manager
I graduated from North County High School in 1997 and chose Southwest Baptist University as the place to work on my undergraduate degree. From 1997 through 2001 I worked on a BA in Psychology. Shortly after graduating from SBU in May of 2001 I married my best friend from college, Zach Waters. Zach and I always wanted to continue being involved in the lives of college students at SBU and in the fall of 2005 I gladly took the position of Apartments Manager. Zach is currently the Director of Student Activities and we have two wonderful baby girls, Brynley, age 3, and Sydney, 10 months old.
Christ Martin
Chris Martin is a 2007 graduate of SBU. He received his degree in Sports Management with a double minor in Accounting and Business Administration. He is currently working on his Masters in Business Administration. At SBU, he also serves as the Director of Intramural Athletics and Assistant Baseball Coach. Martin is originally from Iberia, MO and his twin brother Casey serves as the Head Baseball Coach at Bowling Green High School.
