Current Research Projects: Dr. Bayer is currently preparing a manuscript based on a sermon series he recently did, Images of Yahweh in the Old Testament.
Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? "I enjoy seeing students light up like a light bulb when they learn something new. I want my students to see the Bible as worthy of a lifetime of study; it is true, fun, and life-changing, especially the Old Testament!"

Educational and Professional Background: Bayer earned a Bachelor of Science from Dallas Baptist University in religion and philosphy; a Th.M. from Dallas Theological Seminary in Semitic Languages and the Old Testament; and a Ph.D. from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Old Testament. Additional study: Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, Cincinnati, Ohio.
