A Helping Hand for Parents and Students
When your son or daughter is attending SBU, you’ll both have questions from time to time. SBU has resources in place to provide the help and answers you need.
The Success Center — the goal of the Success Center is to mentor each freshman and transfer student (with under 30 hours college credit) and equip them with the study skills they need to succeed at SBU.
The University Writing Center — A free service available to all SBU students, the Writing Center provides tutors to help with any stage of the writing process.
Math Tutoring Service — Tutors are available to help students with algebra, pre-calculus, calculus and other math courses. Services are free to university students.
Research One — Students needing assistance with research are encouraged to make an appointment at the research desk in the campus library.
Run 2 Win — This voluntary program connects students with an upperclassman peer mentor who will meet regularly to study and discuss topics relevant to the student’s success.
Financial Aid and Accounting Offices are available at any time to answer parents’ questions and provide assistance.
Success Center — If your son or daughter signs a release, Success Center staff may discuss their progress with parents.
Parents Association — We encourage parents to become a part of this association that keeps parents up to date about events on campus and provides opportunities to remember your son or daughter in a special way on birthdays and other such occasions during their time away from home.
