Meet Trish Moceo ‘09

Why did you choose SBU?

I chose SBU because of the Christian atmosphere. When I came and visited every single person I met was very friendly and accepting. I felt like I had a family here even though I only visited for the weekend. I also got a tennis scholarship to play here, and the tennis team was very accepting and I felt very much at home.

How does college differ from high school?

College is completely different from high school in many ways. I am from Texas so when I came to Missouri I got away from my family for the first time. That gave me more freedom and gave me more independence. Also, college classes are more challenging than high school classes.

What are the students like at SBU?

The students here are very unique. The people here are extremely friendly and fun. I was able to have a good time and get along with everyone.

Do you participate in any activities or organizations?

I play Varsity tennis, and I really couldn't imagine my life without my SBU tennis team. This team is my family, and I have the best time hanging out with my teammates and going on trips with them. They are my family away from home.

Are there any campus traditions that make SBU unique?

I really think that Homecoming week is full of the best traditions I have ever participated in: the bed races, the dorm rivalries, the parade, and the talent shows and of course the football game! I have looked forward to Homecoming week all the years I have attended SBU!

What do you like best about SBU?

I love the atmosphere. Being here has really helped my spiritual life and has helped me become closer to Christ. The people here really are fantastic and are a good influence on life. The classes are challenging enough to help you transfer to the real world and the outside activities are always a blast. The memories will last a lifetime.
