Meet Rachel Greene ‘09

What helped you adjust to college life?

I think the thing that helped me the most to adjust to college life was getting involved. Jumping into campus activities, intramurals, and organizations helped me to meet some amazing people and ease the tough transition. Also, getting to know the people that lived on my hall in the dorm was a great place to start!

What do you think about the faculty, staff, and advisors?

I think we have the best faculty. I never thought I would have professors who were so friendly and personable. They take a genuine interest not only in your academics, but in your character. They truly want to make an impression on your life and help prepare you for life after college. They exhibit godly lives and carry over those values and beliefs into the classroom.

What are the students like at SBU?

I love the diversity of our students. We have a great mix of unique people who bring different outlooks and cultural perspectives from all over the world. Our students are some of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet.

Do you participate in any activities or organizations?

I am currently a resident assistant in Leslie Hall. I love being able to serve the dorms and take an active role in the lives of these young women. I’m also involved in the Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) organization. SIFE provides a great opportunity to actively participate with our community here in Bolivar, and even in some of our surrounding communities.

What do you like best about SBU?

What I love most about SBU is that there is something for everyone. Our university offers so many different opportunities for students to get plugged in. Students are able to pursue what they are most passionate about, or even to try something new. Everyone has a place here, and if we aren’t directly involved in an activity, we are actively supporting those who are. Whether it is cheering in the stands or watching from the theatre seats, our students support one another in each endeavor.

What are your plans after graduation?

After graduation, I plan to pursue my Master in Business Administration at SBU and find a career in the corporate world. My experiences here at SBU have prepared me for a leadership role in business management, and I’m looking forward to the opportunities the Lord presents me. One day, I hope to own and operate my own business.
