Levi Bridge

Meet Levi Bridge ’08, M.B.A. in progress

Why did I choose SBU?

I chose SBU because it is a small, Christian University.  I had some family members who attended college here, and after I visited during Bearcat Days I felt God’s calling to come to SBU.  I majored in business and the business college is one of the top in the country. With an emphasis on Christian values in the curriculum, I knew I would be prepared to face challenges in the workplace.

Do you participate in any activities or organizations?

I was involved with SIFE (Student In Free Enterprise) and my senior year I was an officer.  SIFE is a business organization that works in the community to promote free enterprise for all.  What kept me in SIFE was the chance to make a difference in the community and to apply what I was learning in the classroom.  SIFE is a great way to get to know other students and further my growth as a college student.

What do you like best about SBU?

What I like best about SBU is how the faculty cares about the students and knows them personally.  I was not just a number in my classes.  The professors knew my name and they said “hi” in the hallway or took time to talk to me in their office.  They showed concern not only for my academic growth but for my spiritual growth as well.

What helped you adjust to college life?

What helped me adjust to college life was the encouragement from SBU to get involved in a local church.  Getting involved in a local church gave me the opportunity to get to know other college students well and to grow in my faith.  A local church gave me a home away from home and a place to worship and grow within the community.

Do you have any advice for future students?

My advice to future students would be to listen to God’s calling because only then will you be truly happy and following his lead.  Also, get involved.  Make the most of your college experience by getting involved with an organization that you are passionate about.  The four years you will spend in college will fly by. Don’t miss out on a moment of it!
