How does college differ from high school?
College is much better than high school. I loved high school, but college just does not compare to it. Living on your own, with 30 some-odd guys on your hall is something that will not happen when college is over; it is amazing. I have a lot more free time. I have a lot more say in when I do something, and when I do not do something. It is an adjustment, but it is worth it.
What helped you adjust to college life?
I had a very hard time adjusting to college. I came back to America after living in Egypt and had reverse culture shock. I had a hard time dealing with America again and our culture. The group of guys I meet with weekly and live with throughout the week have helped me adjust the most.
Can you describe the classroom environment?
The classroom environment here is academic yet fun. Some of my most memorable moments were in SBU classes. Professors get down to business, no doubt about that, but they also have fun while doing it.
What do you think about the faculty, staff, and advisors?
Our faculty, staff and advisors are amazing. I feel important in each of my classes. They care about each student and they care about the success of each student spiritually and academically. I have the utmost respect for all of our faculty members, professors and advisors.
What do you like best about SBU?
I like our professors. In fact, I love them. They are amazing. They care about students, they love us and they challenge us.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan on being a teacher, and eventually going into ministry. I try not to plan too much into the future; although, I do plan on being a math teacher in high school. I also plan on getting married and eventually I want to live overseas again.
Do you have any advice for future students?
Enjoy life now. Do not ponder on the future wondering what will happen or what you will be doing in twenty years. Enjoy life as it is now. Live in the present; be content with your circumstances. Do not compare now with the past or future. Trust in the Father of heaven and earth, and live, because without Him, we would not be living.
