Meet Kevin Carrington
Degree: B.A. in Mathematics
Alma Mater: Oklahoma State University, 2011
Years of Admissions Experience: 2
Hometown: Bartlesville, OK
Family: My beautiful wife of two years, Cara, is a second year student in SBU's excellent Doctorate of Physical Therapy program.
Hobbies: I love all things sports: playing, watching, fantasy, etc. And I'm always up for board games and card games.
What sets SBU apart from other universities? One advantage of SBU is for students looking to go on to our graduate programs. For example, SBU offers guaranteed acceptance in the Doctorate of Physical Therapy program for qualified incoming freshmen and transfer students. Contact me for details!
Why did you choose to work for SBU? When we moved to Bolivar, I was looking for a work environment in which an employee's Christian walk is encouraged and empowered. After meeting many of the people who work at SBU, I knew this was a place full of people working toward a common goal under prayerful guidance.
What advice do you have for prospective students? You should really consider what you're expecting from your college experience. Do you care if your professors know who you are and help you find a job when you graduate? Do you know if you want to be involved in intramurals, academic organizations, social clubs, etc.? Every college visit will be much more useful for you if you go in knowing precisely what you're looking for.
What is your favorite thing to do in Bolivar? I love playing in intramurals (yes, they let us old people play), playing cards at The Bean, or hanging out with my church family at Southern Hills Baptist Church (across the street from campus)!
