SBU to Host Business and Career Fair

BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University’s College of Business and Computer Sciences  (COBACS) invites local businesses and the community to participate in an internship and career fair from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Oct. 9, in the Intramural Gym of Jane and Ken Meyer Wellness Center located on SBU’s main campus.

SBU CIS Department Announces Senior Projects; Partnerships Key Says Chair

BOLIVAR, MO – Two local non-profit organizations and a crime-fighting lab that supports the FBI are the recipients of help from the senior students in the Southwest Baptist University Computer and Information Sciences (CIS) Department in 2009-2010. The three recipients are the Bolivar office of the Ozark Area Community Action Corporation (OACAC), the Bolivar Area Ministerial Alliance (BAMA) working in cooperation with the Salvation Army, and the Heart of America Regional Computer Forensics (HARCFL) Lab in Kansas City.  These three organizations will each receive a critically important piece of custom designed and built software from the software engineering students in the SBU CIS Department by mid-April of 2010.

BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University Computer and Information Science (CIS) faculty, Dr. Baochuan Lu and Dr. Tim DeClue, along with three CIS students, Ashley Jones (junior computer science major, Shawnee Mission Kansas), Enam Tamakloe (sophomore computer science major, Accra, Ghana), and Matt Copeland (junior computer science major, Springfield, MO) represented SBU at a computational thinking workshop recently held on the campus of the University of Arkansas.  Dr. Robert Panoff, director of the Shodor Educational Foundation, led the conference which focused on modeling, simulation, and computational thinking as a useful way to improve math and science education in the U.S. 


SBU PBL Enjoys Victories at Nationals

BOLIVAR, MO -- Eleven Southwest Baptist University Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) students competed at the FBLA-PBL 2009 National Leadership Conference (NLC) at Hilton Anaheim, June 20–23, with 1,700 of the nation’s top PBL members, and seven national trophies were brought home.  Following are the SBU results:

BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University announced the accounting, economics/finance, marketing, management, public relations, international business, and computer information science graduating seniors of the College of Business and Computer Science (COBACS) have ranked in the 95th percentile on their Major Field Assessment Test.
