BOLIVAR, MO --Southwest Baptist University will begin its official academic year with formal convocation at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar main campus. Dr. Richard Brewer, professor of psychology and recipient of the 2009 Orien B. Hendrex Distinguished Teacher Award, will present the annual convocation address.

SBU Marketing Department Receives National Advertising Award
BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University’s marketing and communications department recently received a national admissions advertising award. Justin Wollard ’97, assistant to the director for athletic media relations (and former graphic designer) and Sharina Smith, senior director of marketing and communications, received a merit award in the 24th Annual Admissions Advertising Awards competition for the brochure, “Impact the World – Success Stories.”
SBU Awarding Two Honorary Doctorates on Founders’ Day
BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University will celebrate Founders’ Day with a formal chapel program Wednesday, April 1, at 10 a.m. in Pike Auditorium on the Bolivar campus. Dr. Harlan Spurgeon ’51, a former SBU president, will deliver the address.
