Southwest Baptist University will benefit from a donation made to the Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) by Sprint (NYSE: S), which has contributed $14,000 to underwrite Sprint Teacher Scholarships at each of the MCF’s member colleges and universities.  The scholarships will be awarded by the member schools on the basis of financial need to students pursuing teaching careers.

“Southwest Baptist University is very grateful for this gift from the Sprint Foundation,” said Dr. C. Pat Taylor, president.  “The contribution recognizes the importance of teacher education and the significant impact that an educated workforce has on Missouri’s economy.”

The contribution will underwrite a $1,000 Sprint Teacher Scholarship at each of the fourteen member schools.  MCF member schools are independent baccalaureate degree-granting liberal arts and comprehensive colleges and universities in the state of Missouri, accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.  Their income is derived primarily from private sources.

MCF was incorporated in 1952 as a partnership of private enterprise and the member independent colleges and universities in the Show-Me State.  The MCF is a 501 (c) (3) tax-exempt corporation; therefore, all contributions to the MCF are tax-deductible up to the limits prescribed by law.
