SBU’s Psi Chi & SCJS Participate in Several Opportunities

BOLIVAR, MO – The National Honor Society in Psychology (Psi Chi) and Sociology and Criminal Justice Society (SCJS) students recently participated in several activities.

 

Students Jon Shih, Katie Emery, Deidra Barringer, Chad Graves, Kaylan Lomax, Kacey Sawyer, Caitlin Winkler, Megan Ast, Megan Eubanks, Brandon Griffin, and Jennifer West represented SBU in the Midwestern Psychology Symposium at John Brown University. Dr. Shelley Kilpatrick, associate professor of psychology sponsored the students in the event.

 

Presentation topics included “Technology Use and Appropriateness Among College Students by Shih, Emery, and Barringer; “Texting vs. F2F: The Impact of Technology on Student Social Lives by Graves, Lomax, Sawyer and Winkler; and “Do U luv ME?: Texting in Romantic Relationships” by Ast, Eubanks, Griffin, and West.

 

Psi Chi students were recently featured in the national magazine Eye on PSI CHI with their efforts of the GRE preparation course that was hosted this semester as well as their fundraising efforts during Homecoming.

 

Students adopted a Share Your Christmas family for Christmas and are in the process of acquiring used books for a book drive. The drive will be held during the spring semester with the proceeds going toward chapter activities.
