BOLIVAR, MO – Southwest Baptist University will present Arthur Miller’s classic “The Crucible” at 7:00 p.m., Nov.12 through14, in the Davis-Newport Theater located in the Jester Learning & Performance Center on the Bolivar campus.
Miller’s masterpiece relates the events of the Salem Witch Trials as the theocracy is engulfed with vengeance, suspicion and greed as citizen after citizen is condemned to die for the crime of Witchcraft.
The play is directed by Assistant Professor of Theatre Dr.Elissa Sartwell and features the costume designs of newcomer Assistant Professor of Theatre Dustin Shaffer as well as set design by Scott Brigman and lighting design by student Megan Anderson.
Senior Adam Keller, a music education major as John Proctor, junior Alyssa Phinney, a music major from Green Bay, Wis., as the temptress Abigail, freshman Lauren Schriver, a prospective theatre major from Springfield as Elizabeth Proctor, senior Chris Maples, a youth ministry major from Kearney as Deputy Governor Danforth, freshman Jake Carver, a christian ministries major from Kansas City as Reverend Hale, freshman Jeff Allen Young a theatre major as Reverend Paris, freshman Samantha Phinney from Green Bay as Mary Warren. The production also features the University’s mailman Roger Abbott in the role of Giles Corey.
Tickets are $2.00 for students of SBU and $3.00 for students of other schools, senior citizens, and SBU alumni. General Admission is $5.00. For tickets or more information, call 417-328-1691.
