BOLIVAR, MO –The Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) chapter at Southwest Baptist University and the Polk County Health Center will host a new “green” initiative project, “Give Thanks and Give Back” from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Bolivar High School Gym.

The event is free and the public is invited to attend. Warm refreshments will be served. Children will have the opportunity to play in the bounce house, decorate pumpkins, take part in face painting, and learn the importance of making their community a better place for future generations.

“Give Thanks and Give Back” promotes community involvement through environmental awareness and volunteerism. The event will offer attendees the opportunity to become knowledgeable about local opportunities to recycle, conserve energy, and volunteer in the community. Children will also have the opportunity to learn about environmental awareness and volunteerism while enjoying various activities.

Local recycling businesses will be on-site with recycling trucks available to accept recyclable items from attendees. A shredding truck will also be available to assist residents in the safe and secure destruction of personal documents.

Electricity providers will be on hand to inform renters and homeowners about conserving electricity and reducing their monthly energy bills. Not-for-profit entities will be available to discuss the services they provide, as well as to inform residents about volunteer needs and opportunities within the Bolivar community.

Copies of the Polk County Recycling Guide, an informative brochure detailing the recycling opportunities for Polk County residents, will be available.
