The announcement from President Taylor is below:
SBU Family,
The Provost Search Committee has recommended Dr. William Brown to be our next Provost, and I have enthusiastically accepted their recommendation. Dr. Brown has graciously accepted our offer to serve as our Provost.
Dr. Brown has served SBU since joining the music faculty in 1980. In 1991 he became the Dean of the Geneva Casebolt College of Music, Arts and Letters. This past summer, he agreed to serve as our Interim Provost until the search process was completed. During the fall semester he decided he would formally apply for the Provost position. After successfully completing each step of the interview process, Dr. Brown received the unanimous endorsement of the Search Committee.
Dr. Brown is uniquely qualified to lead SBU’s academic program. His many years of experience and the positive relationships he has established throughout campus will serve him well as he provides leadership for faculty and academic support staff. He is a team player and will be a good addition to the Executive Cabinet. Please join me in congratulating Dr. Brown and expressing our appreciation for his commitment to serve our University as our Provost.
I also want to express appreciation to the Provost Search Committee members who have worked diligently during the past fifteen months. They have spent countless hours working through dozens of resumes, conducting numerous telephone interviews with candidates, and coordinated seven on-campus interviews. They also have spent much time in prayer. Their dedication to seeking the right candidate to be our next Provost has been amazing. Please express appreciation to: Dr. Susan Lynch, Dr. Bing Bayer, Dr. Herb Hamann, Rob Harris, Dr. Holly Hill-Stanford, Dr. Stephanie Miller, Ed Walton and Dr. Linda Wooderson. These individuals have served our University well.
Sincerely,
Pat Taylor
