Current Research Project: Dr. Brown is the author of a book about his graduate school piano professor, Menahem Pressler, entitled, Menahem Pressler: Artistry in Piano Playing published by Indiana University Press.
Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? " I am always impressed with the caliber of students at SBU, both intellectually and spiritually, and teaching piano to these students is a challenging and fulfilling opportunity. The faculty of the College of Music, Arts & Letters work together so well to achieve our goals."
Educational and Professional Background: Dr. Brown received his Bachelor of Music and Performer’s Certificate from Baylor University. He then received his Masters of Music and Doctorate of Music, both in piano performance, from Indiana University. Brown has experience as a professional piano soloist, accompanist and chamber musician.
Faith Dedication: Dr. Brown attends First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri where he serves as church organist.
Interests and hobbies: Dr. Brown enjoys practicing the piano, walking, biking, and travel.
