1. Go to
the University Libraries Homepage: http://www.sbuniv.edu/library
2. Under the
Research section,
Click on
ARTICLES
3. Navigate
through the options to choose a library database.
4. When
you find the name of the library database you wish to use, Click on
the database name.
5. The next
screen is the DATABASE ACCESS
screen. In
the purple box enter the current proxy username and
password
and
then
click on the SUBMIT button.
6. You should
see a screen that says
DATABASE MENU with
a list of library
database vendor names.
7.
Click on the
library database vendor name that you want from the menu for searching.
8. The next
screen you see should be the database you chose.
How do I get a login and password?
The Proxy Server
accepts your GroupWise account login and password. If you do not
have a GroupWise account, contact the University Libraries during
normal library operating hours by calling 417-328-1620 for
information.
What is a Proxy Server?
A proxy server
allows authorized users, working from an off-campus location, to
have access to most University Libraries licensed online resources.
When do I need to use the Proxy
Server?
Use the Proxy Server
to connect with the Library databases when you are not on campus or
when you cannot use your SBU dial-up account from a local
connection.
Who may use the Proxy Server?
Individuals who are
current SBU students, faculty and staff are considered authorized
users.
What Internet browser do I need to
use?
An Internet browser
such as Internet Explorer version 5.0 or Netscape version 4.5 is
needed.
How do I get help?
Contact University
Libraries by calling 417-328-1620 during normal library operating
hours or by e-mailing the Libraries’ webmaster from the Proxy Server
screen where you attempted to login.
