| Karena South Asia September 25, 2007 Hey! We just came back from eating dinner at our landlord's house downstairs. It was SO good! and I am so full! She said that we could come back anytime. She is a sweet older lady. I wrote a letter two days ago, but the internet was out, so the text is written at the bottom. It had a few pictures in it, but I could not get them to attach. There are more pictures on facebook, but if you don't have a facebook account, you can copy and paste the following links: http://sbuniv.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2015079&l=43ae6&id=177500196 http://sbuniv.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2014518&l=cac8f&id=177500196 http://sbuniv.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2014100&l=dc26b&id=177500196 Since writing that letter, we've had our class discussion. It went well, and we were able to share everything they needed to know. Now we can only wait and see what happens. Thank you all for your prs! KB Previous letter: September 23, 2007 Well, it is the month of fasting for our neighbors here. Each day they eat breakfast at four in the morning and then fast until dinner around 6:30. Our household has joined in this fast, except we don't wake up that early. Three times this week, the three of us girls decided to make a big dinner with the money we didn't use on lunch, and after we were full, we took the leftovers out to the beggars that sit along the wall between here and the school we teach at. This has been a blessing. Many of them are handicapped and have missing limbs. We ask to yarp for them before they start eating, making sure they know in whose name we are yarping, and they agree and yarp with us. When our tummies start to rumble around lunch time, it's a good reminder for us to pr for our friends and the students at our school. The quote that comes to mind during this time is Is(58:6-8). Look it up. It's good! Tonight our landlord brought us up some of the dinner she prepared. On Tuesday night we will go down and eat with her family. This past week in the mornings I have been helping my supervisor's wife home-school her kids. All I do is help her son with grammar for an hour or so and then find extra worksheets online for him to do. He has been showing a lot of improvement already! Class times at the ESL school moved up to mid-afternoon due to the fast. We are glad to have the evenings to ourselves again and not to have to walk home after dark. The class size has become really small, so Steph, Olga, and I have combined our class into one. That puts the student-teacher ratio at about one to one. The students want to mostly have conversation time, so Steph and I use that time to ask questions for the final paper we will have to write about the culture. Friday was exciting! We asked some deep, deep questions, and got their answers. If you know about Dr. Bennett's Friday night question list, those are the kind of questions we asked. Tomorrow we will share our answers. You can keep this in pr. This school will be closing on the 30th of this month. We only have a week left with our students. Please remember this and pr that we will have many opportunities to share with them. During this time many people here are especially sensitive to dreams and visions. Please pr that Dad's son will introduce himself to these people in this way. . That's about all for now! Yesterday we went to India gate because Steph hadn't actually been yet. Across the street from there we got our bus tickets for our trip to Jaipur. If I told you about the possibility of going on a camel safari, then you should know that we won't be doing that. We realized that sitting on a camel for 3 days in the desert might not be so fun after all. Instead we are going to Jaipur for 3 days. It should be fun! Oh! My dad is out of the hospital! They moved him to a nursing home about a week ago while he goes through physical therapy to rebuild his strength to walk, and then he will return home. Thank you all so much for your prs!
