| Kaila South Asia July 21, 2007 I feel like I say this every week, but this week has flown by. That's very good in a way, but I feel like the moments are slipping past without me noticing. Our supervisors made it back to Ne.pal this week. Sarah and I were able to meet them at the airport. It was great to see them. We spent one night in Kath.mandu and then we boarded the bus for our destination. We left for the bus at 6:00am and arrived at our new home around 2:30 I believe. It was a long day, but a very good ride. We were able to see a lot of the country side and learn more about the culture here just by watching people. Since being here we have had some great times of fellowship with our supervisors. It has been awesome to just talk about the work that is going on here and find out a little more about what we will be doing. It looks like we have three weeks here and then we change elevations, so my heart should do fine with the hikes. Please continue to lift this up to the Father, though. I know He's called us here for this specific job and He knows about my heart much better than I do. I am taking major precautions, but it's also in His hands. He knows where I need to be and when. Before our supervisors arrived we were able to go to a couple more stuppas. One of them was supposedly the largest in diameter in Ne.pal. We arrived there just in time for the 5:00 pra.yer. Michelle, the M we were with, shared with us that every morning and every evening at 5:00 the Budd.hist are to go to a stuppa to pr.ay. They walk around the stuppa, turning the pra.yer wheels and going through their pra.yer beads, hoping to gain the approval of their 130 million go.ds. As I yarp walked around the stuppa I was at a huge loss for words. The people are so helpless and hopeless. They are trying to do all these different things and none of them ever work. Around the stuppa were monks prostrating themselves before these go.ds who are made with hands, and they never have hope. I was about to start bawling and I looked up to see the mountains right over the tops of the houses. Here was the largest stuppa in all of Ne.pal, but it was not even the size of a seed compared to the creation of my Go.d that over looks it. At that moment the power of G.od overwhelmed me. I take my Chr.istian faith so for granted. These people are living with some of the most majestic of DAD's creations, and yet they don't know him. They've neverbeen told about Him. I am so privileged to be allowed to share with some of them about our DAD! This morning we went to our first Gur.ung fellowship. It was amazing. I understood very little of what was going on, but I could tell the Spir.it was there. We had about 35 or 40 people crammed in a little room, probably about the size of my bedroom in Neosho, all sitting on the floor. We sang a few songs, most of which were translations from English songs, but that was ok. Then the pa.stor stood up to speak. From what I could tell he did a really good job. He spoke on how the Hebrew chu.rch was not ready for Chr.ist to return and how they weren't out sharing with others. It seemed like he was almost getting on the people for not doing the ministry. It was really cool. We were proud of him. After the teaching they partook in the Lor.ds Supper. Those in the room who were not bap.tized yet left and the rest of us remained in the room. They pra.yed and sang a couple of songs and passed out the bread. This time it was torn up Roti, a Nep.ali flat bread. They pr.ayed over the bread and all ate it at the same time. Then it was time to remember the blood. It was orange Fanta this time. I loved it!!!! They had poured it in a tea pot sort of thing and it was passed around to everyone. Each person just poured a little in their mouths without touching it to their lips. I was really bad at it, in fact I had it all over me, but everyone else did too, so I didn't feel too bad. All the Nep.ali's laughed as they watched the foreigners try and pour it in their mouths. It was a good time. I really enjoyed the fact that they had incorporated this practice into their own culture. They were not trying to be an American Chu.rch with the plastic cups and little cracker wafers. It was all Nep.ali style. I couldn't help but think of DAD on his throne watching and smiling. His word does say that every tongue, tribe, and nation will be around the throne. What a great sight it will be at the wedding feast seeing every different people group on the face of the earth eating together with the Groom. WOW, that's an amazing thought! Those are the major highlights of this past week. We aren't quite sure what this next week will hold, but I know DAD has a path marked out for us. We will be Pr.ayer walking around the city a lot the next couple weeks, so please pr.ay that we have wisdom on where to go and what to pr.ay about. Yarp, also, that we can develop some strategic relationships with women around our house and the city. We will be in and out of here for the next four and a half months, and I don't want to waste a single moment. Thank you all so much for all your yarps. You all are holding me up and I can feel it. Thanks. Have a great week. Bondservant of DAD, Kaila | |||||
