"I graduated in December of 2004 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and Community Recreation. I am currently the Conference Center Manager and the Assistant Director of the Meyer Wellness Center. The Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) degree I earned from SBU prepared me to confidently step out and acheive the goals I set for myself and contribute to society.
I would tell any student... having the "stick-to-itiveness" to finish a college education is extremely important regardless of the degree. I believe all the departments or colleges here at SBU are very proficient at preparing students and equiping them for success in their field of study. I would encourage anyone who might be interested in changing majors to HPER to research and discover all the jobs that are available in this field. I also believe it is very beneficial for anyone getting a degree in HPER to also consider minoring in business. The skill set a Business Minor would equip you with will prove invaluable in any career path you follow."
