SBU & University of San Francisco, Quito’s Partnership Program in Ecuador
Prices and schedules are available for Academic Year 2010-2011
Spend an entire semester in full-time academic study in Ecuador at the University of San Francisco, Quito. Students selected to participate pay their normal tuition on campus and pay for program fees and housing in Ecuador. Additionally, flights are paid by the student. Participation requires a SBU GPA of 2.75 or greater and to be in good financial and academic standing with the university. Other requirements apply, please see the SBU International Studies page.
are two possibilities:- The main campus in Quito, in the Andes mountains: If you can speak Spanish at least at the intermediate level, you can take advantage of the main campus of USFQ. On campus there are available most of the main programs expected in a liberal arts environment. The programs available can be found on their website at www.usfq.edu.ec. Participation in this program including the Ecuador flight should not exceed the costs of attending the SBU campus including on-campus housing, fees and full meal plan. External financial aid may be applicable. Contact Dr. Tompkins discuss this program.
Location: USFQ Campus, Quito, in a suburb called Cumbaya.
Housing: Home stay in Quito included
Food : Breakfasts and Dinners included, Lunches are independent of the program.
Language Requirements: Intermediate Spanish (some classes on campus may be in English.)
Other expenses: Local transportation by bus from home stay to campus, flight to Quito, miscellaneous expenses, excursions.
- The Galapagos Academic Institute of Arts and Sciences. You do not need to speak Spanish to participate in the GAIAS program. There are four different tracks for a full semester of classes:
- Marine Ecology
- Evolution, Ecology and Conservation
- People Politics and the Environment
- Mountain Studies
Most of these programs spend time at the main campus in Cumbaya, and visit the Tiputini Biodiversity station in the Amazon jungle, for a week. Most of the time is spent taking classes at the center in the Galapagos. Below are a few pages of pictures of the different locations:
