Dual credit courses enable high school students to receive both high school and college-level credit simultaneously. High-performing students are provided an affordable opportunity to experience college-level courses during their final two years of high school. Dual credit courses are offered on the high school campus. Applicants must submit a dual credit application which includes recommendations from officials at their school. Applicants are admitted on the basis of academic standards that are the same as those required for unconditional admission to the University. SBU accepts general education dual credit courses completed by students at other regionally accredited institutions. The University does not guarantee acceptance of non-general education courses. These courses will be reviewed on an individual basis by the department involved.
