Pre-Engineering Information

The College of Science and Mathematics

The Pre-Engineering curriculum is a program of study which covers the core courses required by almost all engineering disciplines. Students in the Pre-Engineering program typically take two years of course work at SBU and then transfer to an engineering school as a junior and enter a specific engineering major.

Students should obtain a catalog from the engineering school where they hope to complete their degree to be sure their program of study at SBU is transferable. For students who desire to complete a degree at the Missouri University of Science & Technology this task is eased due to the school's pre-approval of the Pre-Engineering program at SBU.

2-2 Program / Missouri University of Science & Technology

Southwest Baptist University, in cooperation with the Missouri University of Science & Technology, has a program in which students attend SBU for the first two years before transferring to UMR to complete a B.S. degree in one of the following engineering programs: aerospace, ceramic, chemical, civil, electrical, geological, metallurgical, mining, nuclear or petroleum engineering or engineering management. A standard program may be viewed by clicking below.

NOTE: Since the pre-engineering course of study is a general one at SBU, the pre-engineering student should work closely with the pre-engineering advisor (Dr. Robert Kitchin) to facilitate any course modification among specific engineering programs.
