Focus on principles of chemistry and physics.

Whether you are looking to pursue a career as a chemist, go to graduate school, earn an engineering degree or teach chemistry, SBU’s Department of Chemistry has a degree program that will work for you.

A Chemistry degree prepares students for graduate work in chemistry, for employment as chemists, for professional schools in the health sciences, for Unified Science Certification with endorsement in chemistry, or for other technical areas needing a strong chemistry/science background.

The unique Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry Education has been approved by the Missouri State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and a Unified Science Teaching Certification, 9-12, is available for teaching the beginning sciences.

The Pre-Engineering program is in cooperation with the Missouri University of Sceince and Technology. Students in this program attend SBU for the first two years before transferring to Missouri S&T.

Physics is available as a minor.
