Educational and Professional Background
Marsha Trantham, MSPT, has recently joined the core faculty and has a primary obligation within the curriculum as one of two Academic Coordinators of Clinical Education (ACCE). She graduated in December 1999 with an entry level Master’s degree (MSPT) from Texas Woman’s University (Houston, TX) and is in the initial stages of earning a PhD. After becoming licensed, she practiced for six years as a physical therapist in a 750+ bed acute care facility in Springfield, Missouri, serving as a Clinical Instructor. Ms. Trantham’s areas of clinical practice also include outpatient orthopedics, home health, and SNF while working at a small 25-bed rural critical access facility. She continues to stay current with her clinical skills by working PRN in a hospital-based home health care agency where she practiced full-time for five years prior to joining the SBU faculty. Ms. Trantham has completed the training for the Credentialed Clinical Instructor Program (CCIP) and has been accepted to sit for the Geriatric Specialist Certification (GCS) exam through the ABPTS in March 2014.
