Four Year Degree Plan For Mathematics Major
Assumes High School Background Allows Starting in Calculus (if not, MAT 1163-PreCalculus is offered online in the summer and should be taken before freshman year at SBU). Updated for 2011-12 catalog on March 22, 2011.
Courses in Bold are for the math major (there are 27 hours in the core, 5 hours of required support courses, and 10-12 elective math hours in the major. For a BS, CIS 1144 is also required) . Courses in italics are general education courses or graduation requirements. It is recommended that a student consider a minor or second major to get sufficient (40 needed) upper division hours among the 128 hours required for graduation.
This is a sample schedule only. Actual student's schedule depends on class availability and other factors. There are some math major classes available in Winterfest and some gen ed courses would also be available in Winterfest.
