- Students with less than 30 college hours are required to have an official high school transcript or GED transcript sent
Applying to the ASN Program-In addition to the above
- Attend Admissions Informational Meeting starting in February 2008. Every Tuesday at 1:30pm and every Wednesday at 9:00am.
- Complete SBU-Springfield Application
- Have all official college transcripts sent. Transcripts that are faxed or hand-carried will not be accepted.
- Schedule an appointment with the College of Nursing Academic Advisor by calling 417-820-2069.
- Complete an ASN application for the College of Nursing.
- ASN Application deadlines are:
- Consideration for Fall (August) January 30 deadline of same year
- Consideration for Spring (January) August 15 deadline of previous year
- Both SBU and ASN applications are located on this website.

RN to BSN Admission
Admission
Policy, BSN Program
In addition to admission to the university, all upper division
degree-seeking students must formally apply for admission to the
College of Nursing undergraduate BSN degree program. Applicants
must complete the following for acceptance into the BSN degree
program:
Students Applying to the BSN Program
- Complete an application packet for the BSN Program. Applicants who have attended SBU in the past but have a one semester break in enrollment must reapply to SBU using the SBU admission form.
- Provide a copy of current RN license and transcripts of basic nursing courses. If not licensed, provide an anticipated date for taking the NCLEX-RN. If licensed in another state, but not in Missouri, provide documentation that the licensure by endorsement process has been started with the Missouri Board of Nursing as well as the anticipated date of receiving licensure in Missouri.
Dual Enrolled Students (students in ASN Program)
- ASN students may take certain non-clinical courses in their last two semesters of the ASN program with permission of the advisor.
- Dually enrolled students in the ASN and BSN programs of St. John’s College of Nursing must apply for admission to the BSN program the first semester after graduation from the ASN program. They must complete an application form, the BSN profile, transfer students must provide for diploma or ASN transcripts to be sent to the BSN program and provide an anticipated date for taking the NCLEX-RN.
Additional Applicant Requirements (all applicants must comply with the following):
- Admission conference with a member of the BSN faculty is required.
- Additional health records and/or
requirements are needed for admission. These include but are
not restricted to:
- Proof of Hepatitis B Vaccine series or immune titer
- Proof of Rubella immunity status
- Evidence of HIPPA Education
- Evidence of HIV, HBV and other blood-borne pathogen precautions training
- Current CPR card
- Current malpractice (liability) insurance
- All admissions are provisional until the admission office receives all of the information. A letter of formal admission will be sent upon completion of all admission requirements.
