Educational background: McFarland earned a Diploma Degree in Nursing from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1990, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union University in 1999, a Master of Science in nursing education Union University in 2001 and NNP from the University of Tennessee in 2003.

Why do you enjoy teaching? "I enjoy teaching because I am passionate about nursing. I want to instill that same passion in my students. I also want to show them that there are many diverse areas of nursing that can be explored."
