Education and professional background: Lu received his B.A. in Computing Engineering from Shandong University of Technology, M.S. in Computing Engineering from the University of Arkansas, and Ph.D. in Computing Engineering from the University of Arkansas. Prior to coming to SBU, Lu worked as a software engineer in California. Lu began teaching at SBU in 2008 and teaches courses in the areas of web engineering, database systems, operating systems, programming languages, artificial intelligence and foundations of computer science. His primary areas of research interest include pedagogical technologies for active learning, computational thinking, data science, and parallel and distributed computing education.
Family: Lu and his wife have two young daughters.
Community involvement: Lu and his family are members of Southern Hills Baptist Church.
Why did you choose to teach at SBU? "I love the working environment at a Christian school."
