Educational and Professional Background:Patton earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry/Biology from Southwest Baptist University and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Patton was included on The Chancellor’s List for outstanding Graduate Students (2005) at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Patton is the Chair of the SBU Pre-Health Committee and a member of the University Safety Committee. His research work has been published in “Identification of functional elements in the murine Gabpa/ATP synthase coupling factor 6bi-directional promoter” John D. Patton, Scott Block, Chris Coombs, and Mark E. Martin, Gene, In press, (2006).

Patton has been involved in the community as a judge of local Science Fairs for Conway School district (2005) and Polk County Christian School (2006).
