Education and professional background: Colbaugh received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Evangel University, a M.Ed. from Southwest Missouri State University, a Ed.S. from Southwest Missouri State University, and a Ed.D. from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Prior to coming to SBU, Colbaugh was a music teacher for the Springfield Public Schools, music teacher/supervisor at Greenwood Laboratory School, school principal for Springfield Public Schools, adjunct faculty at Evangel University, Cognitive Coaching agency trainer in training and worked in professional development for Springfield Public Schools. She joined the SBU faculty in August 2013.
Family: Her husband, Dwight, is a minister and teaches in the theology department at Evangel University. They have three daughters: Sara and her husband, Troy, live in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area; Julie and her husband, Mick, live in Conifer, Co.; and Katie and her husband, Sam, live in Colorado Springs, Co. They currently have seven grandchildren.
Community involvement: Colbaugh has been actively involved in the public schools as parent, volunteer, or employee. Other involvement includes volunteering at the Pregnancy Care Center and participating in the church choir as director, pianist and board member.
Advice for prospective students: Make the best use of all that is available to you. Honestly, this opportunity will not pass your way again, so take advantage of it; study; learn; grow; develop friendships that will last a lifetime.
