I. Information about the Course
A. Title: Teaching Physical Education in the Elementary
School
B. Course number: HPE 3133
C. Credit Hours: 3 Hours
D. Description: This course is designed to prepare
students who wish to teach physical education to the elementary school child.
The course will focus on the meaning and structure of elementary physical
education. Discussion will include curriculum objectives, divergent
and convergent movement, human wellness, the special child, legal liability,
physical fitness, rhythmic movement, specialized skills, and management skills.

III. Lesson
Instructions – Five Lessons (200 points – 40 points each; 49% of Course Grade)
A. 200 points – 40 points each; 49% of Course Grade
Lesson One: Chapters 1-2
Lesson Two: Chapters 3-7
Lesson Three: Chapters 8-11
Lesson Four: Chapters 12-18
Lesson Five: Chapters 19-23
B. Questions should be answered in your own words. Answers should
be concise and to the point. Please submit original question with
your answer.
C. Lessons must be typewritten in Microsoft Word 97 or higher.
D. Lessons must be organized so I may readily find the answer.
E. When designing a daily
lesson make sure all four parts are included plus closure with assessment
of objectives. Usually closure and assessment occur at the same time.
Your assessment will cover the three daily objectives in the daily lesson.
When designing the unit plan, you will have goals (not objectives). These
goals are the educator’s plan for the student to master by the end of the
unit not each day. Your goals will cover all three domains. One goal
for each domain. Your assessment of the unit will be over the three
goals. Include all assessment tools (skills test, check list, performance
rubics) to be used within the unit.
F. Submit all lessons using the
Assignment feature found in Your Lessons folder which is under
Course Documents. Do not submit lessons as an e-mail attachment.
G. Save your lesson as
a document using CCTCHPE3133Lesson#FullName. Where Lesson #
is the lesson your are submitting along with your full name. Follow this
guideline to name your assignment AND to place in your e-mail that
notifies me that you have sent the assignment.
H. E-mail me and let me know when you have submitted an assignment. If
you don't do this, I will not know to go look for your items. You may e-mail
me using the address found in (1) Faculty Information or (2) Communication
(send e-mail). Either way...inform me.
I. I will return your lessons graded. You will find your lesson grades
posted in your My Grades. Go to the Tools button and look under My
Grades.
Your final lesson grade will be incomplete until all lesson components
have been submitted.
IV. Exam Instructions – Three Exams (Exam #1 is 104 points (52 questions);
Exam #2 is 52 points (26 questions); Exam #3 is 50 points (25 questions)
; 51% of course grade)
A. 206 points – Exam #1 is 104 points; Exam #2 is 52 points; Exam #3 is
50 points = 51% of course grade.
Exam One: Chapters 1-7
Exam Two: Chapters 8, 9, 11
Exam Three: Chapters 12-13, 15-17, 20-23
The exams are multiple choice and true and false. Both are in an
online format. The first exam is available after lessons one and two are
completely submitted; the second exam is available after lesson three is
completely submitted, and exam three is available after lesson five is complelty
submitted. Upon completing an exam, you will find your exam grades posted
in your My Grades. Go to the Tools button and look under My
Grades.
B. Please secure access to your exams by following the directions in your
course.
C. There are several unit practice quizzes. Please follow the instructions
in your course.
