Educational and Professional Background:
Maupin attended SBU from 1967-1970, when she married and transferred to University of Missouri. In 1971 she received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, minor in Art, from University of Missouri-Columbia . Her first teaching assignment was a second grade class in Jefferson City, Missouri. However, she was asked to assume the art teacher’s role just two months into the school year.
Maupin completed her requirements for art certification and has continued to teach elementary art for more than 27 years. After teaching one year in Jefferson City, Maupin taught elementary art for four years for Pattonville School District in St. Louis, Missouri, before taking an extended maternity leave.
From 1984-1999, Maupin was a Visual Arts Coordinator and Resource Teacher for Olathe Public Schools, in Olathe, Kansas. During this time, she earned a Master of Sciene in Educational Administration from Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas.
Since 1999, Maupin has served as the Elementary Art teacher for Bolivar Intermediate School. She also serves as BIS Love and Logic Teacher Coach, Facilitator for Becoming a Love and Logic Parent, substitute administrator (as needed), and Coordinator of Bolivar School District Mentoring Program. Maupin has taught the art education classes at SBU since 2003.
