Beltrán was born in Pereira, Colombia on February 13, 1987. He started his musical training at age 6 and took his first cello lessons at age 15.

Mr. González received a Bachelor of Music Education from Universidad de Technológica de Pereira and is currently working on a master’s degree in cello performance from Missouri State University.

He has been a part of symphony orchestras in Colombia, Jamaica, Venezuela and the United States. He is actively involved in the teaching of music as a tool for social inclusion, a philosophy widely used by “El Sistema” in Venezuela and adopted by many countries around the world. Between 2005 and 2009, Mr. González was the cello instructor with Corporación Batuta Risaralda, a branch of the Colombia version of “El Sistema.” In 2009, he served as part of a team of instructors in charge of implementing the Orchestras of the Americas for Social Inclusion in Jamaica, Haiti and St. Lucia. From 2010 to 2012, Mr. González was a cello instructor and orchestra coach with the National Youth Orchestra of Jamaica.

Currently he is part of the Springfield-Drury Civic Orchestra and an on-call cellist with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. He is also a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda music honors society.
