Who is playing on your iPod? I don't own an iPod. And I haven't replaced the CD's since I cleaned out my Christmas ones. Typically I keep a worship/praise CD in the van -- but the girls usually keep their iPods plugged into the stereo, so I hear a lot of Jessie's dance numbers :)
What book are you currently reading? I recently finished a domestic violence book entitled "If I am Missing or Dead", which was followed by a book for Minorities class entitled "Slave Ships". I have since read "The Shack" and finished the "Eragon" series with the third book "Brisingr". The next books are text reviews: "Diversity in America", "On Being Different", "Thinking about Women and Women's Lives" as I get ready for fall. The next book for pleasure will probably be one I read with Jess like Gail Carson Levine's newest book "Ever" or Robin McKinley's "Chalice".
What is the best getaway location, local or abroad? Our favorite family getaway has been Casperson Beach in Florida, just south of Venice. There was a lot of hurricane damage a few years ago that washed away a lot of the beaches. So we may need to find a "new" spot. My favorite vacation was to the Big Island of Hawaii. I could be tempted to go back there any time. But, alas, no trips until the girls are through college. Whenever I think of a getaway it involves sunshine and ocean beaches. Someplace where my husband and older daughters can scuba dive while the youngest and I beach comb or curl up with a good book!

Why do you enjoy teaching at SBU? "Teaching at SBU gives me the opportunity to integrate my beliefs with my field. To me, it seems like such a natural fit. Our values, both personal and spiritual, help to define what we see as social problems. And, a study of social issues, really opens our eyes to where we as Christians need to be ministering. I love seeing our students grow in their both faith and knowledge as they learn to integrate these concepts on their own."
