EDWARDSVILLE, IL. ...Competing amongst some of the best teams in the midwest from NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and junior colleges, Southwest Baptist University came away with a great experience at the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Border Battle. The women finished 17th out of 34 teams while the men were 19th out of 30 teams.
Head coach Mark Misch says, "This was a great cross country meet. I felt the men ran well individually. Our women's team wasn't able to compete at their top level that they could have due to some injuries and illnesses. Overall, we had a lot of positives out of this meet. It was a true cross country race in every aspect of the sport." Leading the way for the Lady Bearcats was Amy Broadhurst with a time of 19:23.70 in 37th place. Christine Showler took 67th place (20:05.44) followed by Jenny Doke (108 - 20:45.97), Alyssa Maggart (126 - 21:06.89), and Lisa Hicks (128 - 21:07.72). Erika Anderson was 164th (22:01.15).
