#24 LADY BEARCATS WIN CONFERENCE OPENER AT WASHBURN

TOPEKA, KS. ...In the first half of a crucial weekend, SBU started MIAA conference play by shutting out the Lady Blues of Washburn 4-0 to improve to 5-1-1 on the season. Four different Lady Bearcats scored in the win.

Just eight minutes into the game, Pip Meo scored her sixth goal of the year from 25-yards out to give SBU the 1-0 lead. Nine minutes later, Ashley Munnelly put SBU up 2-0 with her third goal of the year when she nailed a shot off of the WU's goalies block.

In the 69th minute, Haley Moorwood added the third goal from 25-yards out. Vanessa Toll completed the scoring in the 73rd minute when she netted a penalty kick. She also recorded an assist.

SBU outshot WU, 24-7, by taking 12 shots in each period. Sara Eppler had two saves.

The Lady Bearcats will look to stay undefeated in the MIAA when they take on Northwest Missouri State at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 25.
