#22 SBU RECORDS FOURTH SHUTOUT OF 2004 SEASON OVER MSSU

Victoria Bright recorded her first 2004 goal in the 3-0 win over MSSU.

BOLIVAR, MO. ... Playing their second game in three days, the #22 Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats shut out Missouri Southern, 3-0, to improve to 5-0 in the MIAA. It was SBU's fourth shutout of the 2004 season.

It was a struggle for SBU from the beginning as they had 11 shots in the first half but scored only one goal. SBU took nine shots in the second half to record 20 shots in the game. They held MSSU to one shot with the that shot coming with 10 seconds left in the game.

Pip Meo picked up her 10th goal of the year when she gave SBU a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute of the game. Ashley Munnelly just tapped the ball to Meo as she netted the goal.

Missouri Southern's defense held strong until the 79th minute when Victoria Bright nailed her first goal of the year from 20-yards out off of an assist from Meo. Just three minutes later, Munnelly dribble around in the box through several defenders and then finally tapped in the third goal of the game.

MSSU's Alese Woolard had 10 saves in the loss while SBU's Sara Eppler had one save on one shot.

SBU will have their third game in five days as they host the #2 team in the nation, Truman State University, on Saturday, October 14, at 11 a.m. SBU and TSU are the only two undefeated teams left in the MIAA.
