#22 SBU SHOOTS THEIR WAY PAST CMSU, 5-1

Pip Meo picked up her team leading eighth and ninth goals vs. CMSU. It was the second time this year that she has scored two goals in a match.

WARRENSBURG, MO. ... Taking control of the game in the first half, the #22 Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats had a 3-1 halftime lead that finished with a 5-1 win. SBU outshot CMSU 12-3 in the first half. With the win, SBU improved to 8-1-1 and 4-0 in the MIAA.

Putting SBU on the board early was Priscilla Duncan as she connected with the net from 30-yards out in the third minute. Just 11 minutes later, Pip Meo gave SBU the 2-0 off of a Hayley Moorwood assist when they broke free through the defenders. Megan Zinchuck canned the third goal in the 32nd minute as SBU ran away with a 3-0 lead. Vanessa Toll, the MIAA leader in assists, put the ball in position for Zinchuck off of a cross kick.

CMSU netted a goal in teh 36th minute to cut the lead to two, but that is as close as they would get.

SBU added two more goals in the second half. In the 51st minute, CMSU scored an own goal to give SBU their fourth goal and then Meo had her second goal of the game when she finished off a cross in the box from Victoria Bright in the 56th minute.

Outshooting CMSU 23-4, SBU also had more fouls, 10-3. Sara Eppler improved to 8-1-1 on the year with one save on four shots.

The Lady Bearcats will again take on another tough MIAA team in Missouri Southern on Thursday, October 14, at 3 p.m. in Bolivar.
