KIRKSVILLE, MO. ... Nationally ranked Truman State University
(14-1-1/10-0) showed why they were the #1 team in the MIAA
as they took a 3-0 win against the Southwest Baptist University
Lady Bearcats (9-7/8-2). Truman now has command of first place
in the MIAA.
The Lady
Bearcats were hit early in the first half as TSU took a quick
1-0 lead at the 13:05 mark. Then, in the 31st minute, TSU’s
Ellen Wright made it 2-0. TSU capped off the scoring in the
second half on a penalty kick (54:24).
It was
a very physical match as SBU had 16 fouls to TSU’s 15.
SBU h ad six shots with Vanessa Toll leadin the way with three.
TSU had five corner kicks to SBU’s two.
Kelsey
Lueckenhoff had five saves in the loss while TSU’s Lauren
Davis had three saves.
SBU will
continue their road schedule as they take on Missouri-Rolla
on Wednesday, October 29th, at 7 p.m in Rolla.
