Lady Bearcats Shoot Their Way Past NWMSU, 3-0

BOLIVAR, MO.. ... In the final home match of the season, the Southwest Baptist University Lady Bearcats (7-6/6-1) went out in style with a 3-0 win over Northwest Missouri State University (2-9-3/1-6-3). Three different Lady Bearcats scored in the victory.

This was SBU’s sixth shutout of the season as goalie Kelsey Lueckenhoff improved to 7-5 on the year. The Lady Bearcat defense did not allow a NWMSU shot in the match.

Pip Meo put SBU on the board in the seventh minute when she stole the ball from the NWMSU defender to break away for the goal. She then layed it past the goalie for the quick 1-0 lead. In the 35th minute, Kayla Griffin snuck in a goal off of Vanessa Toll’s corner kick to make it 2-0.

Stephanie Lusardi recorded her first goal of the season in the 69th minute when she received a pass from Toll. Lusardi then nailed the shot to end the SBU scoring.

SBU will now face the task of seven road matches to finish out the season. Their next match will be on Saturday, October 18th, as they travel to Topeka, Kansas, to face Washburn. Gametime is at 2 p.m.
