MO. ... Freshman Ashley Tanner picked a good time to record
her first goal of the year when she nailed the go ahead score
with 25 minutes letf to play in the match to give the Southwest
Baptist Lady Bearcats (9-6/8-1) a 2-1 win over Missouri Southern
State University (3-9-3/2-5-3). Tanner booted the shot from
30 yards out as it just went over the goalies head.
With the
win, SBU sets up a rematch with Truman State on Saturday in
Kirksville for first place in the MIAA at 2 p.m.
Vanessa
Toll picked up her 10th goal of the season in the 36th minute
to give SBU the 1-0 lead off of a Pip Meo assist. MSSU responded
with their own goal in less than a minute to tie the game
at one on a header off of a free kick.
Tanner
then socred the winning goal with 65:12 on the clock.
SBU outshot
MSSU, 21-14, but tied them with four corner kicks. Kelsey
Lueckenhoff improved her record to 8-5 with four saves. |
