MIAA Road Win for SBU

WARRENSBURG
- The Lady Bearcats (12-9, 6-6) defeated Central Missouri
State on Saturday in Warrensburg, 74-64.
The Lady
'Cats jumped out to a 8-1 lead, then stretched it to a 14-8
lead before the Jennies went on a 8-2 run to tie the game
at 16 with 6:35 remaining in the first half.
The two
teams traded leads a few times before SBU regained advantage
for the rest of the half on a layup with 2:09. SBU ended the
half on a 9-3 run to go into the break with a 35-29 lead.
The Jennies
started the second period on an 8-2 run to tie the game at
37 with 16:45 remaining. CMSU kept the game close for the
next seven minutes, but the Lady 'Cats 14-2 run capped off
by a jumper from Gwyn Smith to put the score at 65-51.
SBU hit
five-of-six free throws down the stretch to put the game away.
Smith
led all players with 25 points and 15 rebounds for her 12th
double-double of the year. Also scoring in double figures
for SBU was Allison Ramirez with 15.
The Lady
'Cats shot .531 fromt he field (26-49), .286 from the arc
(2-7) and .909 from the charity stripe (20-22).
CMSU was
led by Kinsey lehe with 15 points and Jena Shackelford with
14 points.
SBU returns
to action on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m. in Emporia, Kan.
when it tips off against Emporia State.
