Bearcats Lose On Road

- The Lady Bearcats (11-8, 5-5) took a 68-63 loss at Missouri
Southern on Saturday. The Lady Lions scored the games
last seven points in the last 3:27.
SBU was led by Alicia Mercer with 15 points. Gwyn Smith added
11 points and led the team with six rebounds. Also scoring
in double figures was Jenny Miller and Allison Ramirez with
12 points apiece.
SBU shot .511 from the field, .429 from the three-point arc
and .692 from the charity stripe on Saturday.
Missouri
Southern was led by Jacquie Rzeszut with 14 points. Also scoring
in double figures was Lucimara Silva with 3, Wyketha Harrell
with 12 and Carol Koenig with 11.
Missouri
Southern led 37-28 at the break, but SBU outscored the lady
Lions 35-31 in the second period. The game was tied three
times in the second period, including at 63 with 2:57 left
in the game.
MSSC's
Carol Slinker, making her first career start, hit a three-pointer
with 2:00 left in the contest. Twenty-four seconds later,
she blocked a Wheeler three-point attempt and SBU missed another
three-pointer and a jumper in the last eight seconds to fall short of its first MIAA road victory.
The Lady
'Cats will return to action on Thursday, Feb. 6 when they
host Washburn. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:45 p.m.
