BOLIVAR
- The SBU Lady Bearcats return to their winning ways opening
the 2002-03 home schedule with an 82-50 victory over Southern
Arkansas Saturday.
The women
were led by junior Alicia Mercer with 19 points. She was followed
by Gwyn Smith with 15 points. Smith led the Lady 'Cats in
rebounding with Allison Davis. Each had 10 boards. Davis finished
Saturday's contest with 11 points, as did freshman Amber Wheeler.
Also scoring in double figures for SBU was Jenni Jones.
The women
hit .492 from the field (32-65), .444 from the three-point
arc (4-9) and .636 from the charity stripe (14-22).
SAU Stacy
Stockton was the only Riderette in double figures. She had
25 points on the evening. She also led SAU with seven rebounds.
The Lady
Bearcats held their opponents to a .306 percentage from the
field (19-62). The Riderettes shot .176 from the arc (3-17)
and .692 from the line (9-13).
SBU will
return to action on Saturday, Dec. 14 when they host Harding
at 6 p.m.
