Suffers First Loss

TAHLEQUAH,
Okla . - Despite 20 points from freshman Amber Wheeler, including
four three-pointers, the Lady Bearcts suffered their first
defeat of the young season at Northeastern State (Okla.) on
Saturday, 67-60.
The Lady
'Cats were down 26-31 at the half and could not quite overcome
the deficit, despit scoring 34 points in the second period.
SBU shot
40.7 percent in the first half from the field, but only a
low 31.4 percent from the field in the second period to drop
to 3-1 on the season.
Wheeler
was six of 14 from the floor, including four of six from the
arc and four for four on free throws. She also had five rebounds.
Also scoring
in doublefigures for the women were senior Allison Davis with
11 and sophomore Natasha Goldsmith with 10. Sophomore Gwyn
Smith led the Lady 'Cats with six rebounds. SBU was outrebounded
40-33.
SBU will
return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. in Arkadelphia,
Ark. against Henderson State.
