MAGNOLIA, Ark. - The Lady Bearcats bettered their record to 2-0 after defeating Southern Arkansas here on Thanksgiving Eve, 80-71.

SBU was led by freshman Amber Wheeler with 21 points. She was six of 13 from the field, including 3-7 from the three-point arc.

Junior Alicia Mercer was second with 18 points, but led the Lady 'Cats with nine rebounds.

Also scoring in double figures for SBU were Allison Davis with 17 points and Jenny Miller with 13 points.

SBU shot 45.8 percent from the field (27-59), .350 from the arc (7-20) and .731 from the charity stripe (19-26).

SBU led 33-30 at the half and were at one time down by four in the second period, but showed resilience and walked away with the third victory of the season.

The Lady Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. in Tahlequah, Okla. when they face Northeastern State (Okla.).
