Wins Second MIAA Game

BOLIVAR
- The SBU Lady Bearcats (8-3, 2-0) won their second straight
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association game after
defeating Missouri Southern on Saturday, 72-68.
The Lady
Bearcats were led by freshman Amber Wheeler with 23 points.
She hit seven of 10 free throws and four of seven three-pointers.
Also scoring in double figures for SBU was Gwyn Smith with
15 points.
Smith
led the team in rebounds with 10 for another double-double.
Missouri
Southern (8-5, 0-2) was led by Lucimara Silva with 17 points
and seven rebounds. Jacquie Rzeszut had 10 points and seven
rebounds.
SBU led
at the half 46-34, but MSSC outscored the Lady 'Cats 34-26
in the second period. SBU only shot 23.1 percent from the
field in the second half (6-26).
The Lady
'Cats hit five of eight free throws in the last 1:19 to put
the game away.
SBU shot
.379 from the field (22-58), .353 from the arc (6-17) and
.710 from the charity stripe (22-31).
SBU will
travel to Washburn on Wednesday, Jan. 8 for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
