Leitzke starts her second year as the assistant coach for the women’s basketball program at Southwest Baptist. The Marana, Arizona, native was the first athlete to be a three-sport, four year letter winner in the history at Marana High School. She was named Miss Basketball Arizona in 1993.
After being a highly recruited in high school, she moved onto Central Arizona College, a powerhouse in junior college women’s basketball where she would see playing time right away. After leaving Central Arizona, she transferred to Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. At Butler, her team made their first NCAA tournament in the University’s history. She finished playing in 1997 and graduated with an education degree.
Leitzke then ventured back to Arizona where she taught middle school for two years. While teaching, she coached 7th and 8th grade boy’s and girl’s basketball.
She married SBU standout Maury Leitzke and moved over-seas to follow Maury in his professional basketball career. While over-seas, she had the opportunity to play professional basketball in Australia and New Zealand.
The Leitzke’s have been married for four years and have two dogs, Gabby and Majerle, named after their favorite athletes. |
