Hanna begins her second year as athletics intern for Southwest Baptist. A native of DeSoto, Missouri, she played for DeSoto High School, which captured two consecutive Class 4A State Championships as well as a third place finish. The record holding all-state performer was a highly recruited prep player who committed early her senior year to the University of Illinois.
While at Illinois, Hanna was coached by the 1992 USA Olympic head coach and NCAA Hall of Fame inductee Teresa Grentz. During her collegiate playing time, Hanna was a two-year starter and captain and was honored with the Ralph Woods Award of Excellence.
Community service also played a big part in Hanna’s life while at Illinois. She was an active public speaker and volunteered extensively at the Don Boyer Boys and Girls Club, assisted in the University of Illinois sports information and marketing department, and was elected to serve on the Student-Athlete Advisory Board.
After graduating with a bachelor of arts in communications, she moved to Chicago and worked for industry leading consulting firms Hewitt Associates and PricewaterhouseCoopers as a consultant in the Qualified Plan and Management Consulting Divsion. She continued to work with the community by being involved with the Chicago Anti-Cruelty Society and the Infant Welfare Society. She also served as a volunteer coach for Deerfield High School’s feeder program.
Hanna is currently working towards her master’s degree in education as well as secondary school teaching certification. |
